People who are fleeing their countries and seeking refuge in the Netherlands must first go through an asylum procedure to see if they are eligible for protection.
Special attention must be paid to the vulnerable situation in which most asylum applicants find themselves when being interviewed.
As of now the recording of asylum interviews is not a standard part of the procedure and only happens sporadically.
Our goal is to make the recording a standard part of the procedure. The first step in achieving this goal is to conduct research into why the interviews are, for the most part, not being recorded. With the outcome of the research, we want to find a solution that would fix this and will ensure that the procedure is conducted in a fair and transparent manner, will bring parties on a more equal footing with one another and also protect the rights of all parties involved.
We are an initiative focused on changing the way the government interacts with individuals.
Last year more than 20.000 refugees came to the Netherlands seeking protection. The asylum procedure must provide a fair and transparent procedure. That is our mission.
